Center for Distance Learning and Innovation
The Center for Distance Learning and Innovation (CDLI) was founded in December 2000 by the Department of Education, Government of Newfoundland Labrador to develop and deliver e-learning programs and services for students and teachers throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. CDLI's primary audience for its distance education services is students located in the smaller, rural and more remote communities.
CDLI continues to expand its senior high distance education program and during the 2010-2011 school year will deliver forty-five (45) senior high courses to more than 1000 students located in 109 schools located throughout the province.
CDLI continues to partner with the five provincial school districts on an information, communications and learning technologies (ICLT) initiative that promotes technology integration at the K-12 level. As well, CDLI guides the implementation of online teacher professional development for the province.
As part of its innovative work CDLI continues to partner with research institutions at the provincial and national levels. CDLI requires a high-speed, reliable Internet backbone communications network to conduct its day to day operations.
